Who We Are
Pennr is a fuel price comparison app for the United Kingdom. We help you find the cheapest fuel near you by showing live prices from stations in your area.

What Data We Collect
Location Data
We request access to your precise device location while the app is in use. This is used solely to find fuel stations near you and to sort results by distance.
- Location data is not stored on our servers.
- Location data is not shared with any third party.
- We only access location while the app is open and in the foreground.
- You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. Core app functionality (finding nearby stations) will not be available without it.
Anonymous Analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics. This helps us understand how the app is used so we can improve it.
- Data collected: screens viewed, buttons tapped, features used, session duration.
- No personally identifiable information is collected.
- No advertising identifiers (IDFA or GAID) are collected or used.
- No cross-app tracking.
- PostHog data is retained for 12 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
Crash Reports (Sentry)
We use Sentry to capture crash reports and error logs. This helps us identify and fix bugs quickly.
- Data collected: device model, operating system version, app version, stack traces, and error context.
- No personally identifiable information is collected.
- Sentry data is retained for 12 months, after which it is automatically deleted.
What We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect or store:
- Names, email addresses, or any contact information
- Account credentials or passwords
- Payment information
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA)
- Cross-app or cross-site tracking data
- Cookies
Pennr has no user accounts in version 1. You do not need to register or log in to use the app.
Third-Party Processors
We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

Both processors are contractually bound to process data only as instructed by us and in compliance with GDPR.
Price data is sourced from the UK Government Fuel Finder Scheme (Department for Energy Security and Net Zero) and community contributions. This data does not include any personal information.
Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — for anonymous analytics and crash reporting, to improve the reliability and performance of the app.
- Contract performance (Article 6(1)(b)) — for location data, to provide the core functionality you have requested (finding nearby fuel stations).
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Right of access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to data portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to restrict processing — request that we limit how we use your data.
Because we collect no personally identifiable information, most of these rights have limited practical application. However, you may contact us at any time and we will respond within 30 days.

International Transfers
PostHog and Sentry may process data outside the UK or European Economic Area. Both processors maintain appropriate safeguards (including standard contractual clauses) for international data transfers in compliance with UK GDPR.
Children
Pennr is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will provide notice within the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
